Watching the debate
Oct. 15th, 2008 09:30 pmJim and I are sitting in the lobby of the Hilton at Rockville (MD), watching people watching the debate (we're going to be guests at Capclave starting Friday -- if you're in the DC area, come on by) and I'd almost say that watching the folks here is more interesting than watching the debate, since what the candidates are going to say is pretty much rote by now. Everyone is very intent -- no cheering, no laughing, but just very quiet and intent. Of course, these appear to be business people, not students or a bunch of folks sitting in their living room. But the focus of attention is impressive.
(Oops -- I take it back. McCain is now claiming Obama has questioned the patriotism of the people attending his rally, and the people here are starting to snicker.)
